Enjoy Him

July 10, 2017

Enjoy the journey.

These three simple words have such a powerful and complicated meaning, especially when life seems much less than enjoyable. How much easier is it to say these three words than to actually live them out day to day? I can't lie to you and say that the journey I am currently walking out is exactly what I would have picked for myself, but I think I have I have finally realized a way to truly enjoy it!

Can we be real today? How often do we look at Instagram and see a friend that just got engaged or a friend that is having a baby or a friend that got the job we would kill for and wonder why our journey in life doesn't seem as good as theirs? I do this often. So stinking often! Comparison is the thief of all joy and it has robbed mine on many days of the journey that the Lord has paved for me. It wasn't until recently that I had a revelation from the Holy Spirit that no matter how many filters I put on that picture or how sweet my caption is sometimes the only way to truly enjoy the journey is to own the boat you're floating through life in. This boat is messy and at times seems like it'll sink but if you choose to focus on the Lord then I know that you will always enjoy the journey. I know that when you put your focus on God and not your circumstance, that He will do three things.

First, God will give you confidence in all chaos. Our expectations can be very different from God's, but if we expect God’s word to be true in our life our journey will always be enjoyable.

Romans 8:28 "and we know that God works out all things for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Second, God will give you joy in all trials.

Romans 8:18 "I consider that our present sufferings do not compare to the glory that will be revealed in us."

Lastly, God will give you peace that transcends all understanding.

Philippians 4:7 "and the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.”

Isaiah 26:3 says, "you will keep in perfect peace those who trust in you. All whose thoughts are fixed on you.”

I know that God desires for us to enjoy our journey, but I also know that God wants so much more for us to enjoy Him in the journey. He's not surprised by where you are, but He is the only one who can provide true joy that will sustain you through every season.
